After the collapse of the Atreides family in Dune Part One (2021), the exiled Duke Paul Atreides resumes his quest for wisdom in the desolate region of Arrakis. Before long, the honorable son adopts the behaviors of the blue-eyed Fremen warriors, not realizing that the family is divided by tales of the Dune Messiah. Ultimately, the oppressive hold of House Harkonnen becomes increasingly tight, igniting a vicious battle for dominance over the planet and its enormous spice-producing lands. Water, however, is life in a general sense. A new leader must emerge because the future is unknown and cunning plotters are planning for murder and devastation. Now that he’s stuck between specific expediencies and other people’s bournes, will Paul turn into the fighter he’s always wanted to be?
— Nick Riganas
Paul and his mother-in-law Jessica travel with the freemen and become acquainted with their habits following the slaughter of the house Atreides, which was owned by the late Duke Leto. The rest of the freemen either hate Paul or revere him as the Lisan al Gaib as he begins to grow close to the female Chani. Paul struggles to decide whether to lead the freemen as their Messiah or to show sympathy for Chani. While recuperating from his wounds, Baron Harkonnen seizes sovereignty of Arrakis from Rabban and gives it to his insane whoreson, Feyd Rautha Harkonnen. Paul is left with the option of continuing to lead the freemen in his current capacity or ascending to become the Lisan al gain and taking on the emperor and the Harkonnen dynasty.
Paul Atreides is accepted by part of the Fremen and Stilgar believes he’s the promised one Lisan al Gaib from the vaticination of the people from North. After learning about the Fremen’s clothing, Paul develops feelings for Chani. still, Stilgar and his mama Jessica want Paul to go to the South to join forces and fight the House Harkonnen and the Emperor, but Paul is hysterical about the outgrowth since he’d a vision of numerous casualties in the showdown of the Holy War.
Synopsis
Following the destruction of House Atreides by House Harkonnen, Princess Irulan, the son of Padishah Emperor Shaddam IV, intimately journals her nausea over how her father betrayed the Atreides. On Arrakis, Stilgar’s Fremen colors, including Paul Atreides and his pregnant Bene Gesserit mama, Lady Jessica, overcome a Harkonnen command. When Jessica and Paul reach Sietch Tabr, some Fremen suspect they’re intelligencers, while Stilgar and others see signs of the vaticination that a mama and son from the” external World” will bring substance to Arrakis.
Stilgar tells Jessica that Sietch Tabr’s Reverend Mother is dying and that Jessica must succeed her by drinking the Water of Life, a bane fatal for males and untrained women. Jessica transmutes and survives the venom, inheriting the recollections of all the once Reverend maters. The liquid also precociously awakens the mind of her future son, Alia, allowing Jessica to communicate with her; they agree to concentrate on persuading the further skeptical northern Fremen of the vaticination. Chani and her friend, Shishakli, rightly believe the vaticination was fabricated to manipulate the Fremen but begin to admire Paul after he declares that he only intends to fight alongside the Fremen, not to rule them.
Paul and Chani fall in love as Paul immerses himself in Fremen culture learning their language, getting a Fedaykin fighter, riding a sandworm, and raiding against Harkonnen spice operations. Paul adopts the Fremen names” Usul” and”Muad’Dib”. Due to the continuing spice raids, Baron Vladimir Harkonnen replaces his whoreson, Rabban, as Arrakis’s sovereign with his further cunning yet psychotic youngish whoreson, Feyd- Rautha. Lady Margot Fenring, a Bene Gesserit, is transferred to estimate Feyd-Rautha as a prospective Kwisatz Haderach and secure his inheritable lineage.
Jessica travels south to unite with Fremen monotheists who believe most explosively in the vaticination. Paul remains in the north, fearful that his fancies of a climactic holy war will come to pass if he goes south as a messiah. During another raid on a spice harvester, Paul reunites with Gurney Halleck, who leads Paul to the retired atomic cache of House Atreides. Feyd-Rautha unleashes a ruinous attack on the northern Fremen, destroying Sietch Tabr, killing Shishakli, and forcing Paul and the survivors to trip south. Upon appearance, Paul drinks the Water of Life and falls into a coma. This angers Chani, but she’s impelled by Jessica to mix her gashes with the liquid, which awakens him. Now enjoying second sight across space and time, Paul sees an adult Alia on water-filled Arrakis. He also sees a singular path to palm among all possible futures, and that Jessica is the Baron’s son.
Paul meets with a southern Freemen war council, charging the crowd by demonstrating his capability to discern their deepest studies. He declares himself the Lisan al Gaib and sends a challenge to Shaddam, who arrives on Arrakis with Irulan and the Sardaukar. As Shaddam chastises the Harkonnens for their failures, the Fremen launch a descent, using atomics and sandworms to overpower the Sardaukar. Paul executes the Baron, landing Shaddam and his cortege. Gurney, in the meantime, launches an attack on Arrakeen, stopping and killing a runaway Rabban.
Paul challenges Shaddam for the throne and, to Chani’s dismay, demands to marry Irulan. Previously summoned by the Baron, the Great Houses arrive en route- Paul threatens to destroy the spice fields with atomics if they intermediate. Feyd- Rautha levies to be Shaddam’s champion, but Paul kills him in a duel. As long as her father continues to live, Irulan grants Paul’s desire for marriage.
With reluctance, Shaddam kneels and gives Paul’s signet ring a kiss. When the Great Houses reject Paul’s ascendance, he orders the Fremen to attack the ringing line. As Stilgar leads the Fremen onto the captured Sardaukar vessels, Jessica and Alia reflect on the morning of Paul’s holy war.
Chani gallantly declines to acknowledge Paul and rides out on a sandworm by herself.
